About Highland Geothermal Lodges

Iceland's central highlands are a wellness frontier defined by silica, sulphur, and silence. The new generation of lodges — Deplar Farm, the Retreat at Blue Lagoon, Highland Base — have rewritten what a remote spa can look like.

The water is mineralised by the same volcanic system that built the island. The architectural strategy is consistent: turf roofs, basalt walls, floor-to-ceiling glass for the aurora.

Signature Rituals

01

Silica mud masks straight from the source lagoon.

02

Cold-plunge contrast bathing between hot pots and glacial rivers.

03

Aurora-watching from outdoor cedar hot tubs September through April.

Frequently Asked

Statistically yes between September and April, weather allowing — most highland lodges include guided aurora alerts overnight.

Are highland roads open year-round?+

F-roads close from October to mid-June; some lodges operate winter super-jeep transfers in their place.
